About Me:
Desiree Holmes Scherini works in several different media. She specializes in Home and Business renderings which are executed in a realistic style, while her abstract paintings and impressionist work are expressive and colorful.
Desiree holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, from the University of California. Her art studies began in college and have continued through classes and workshops with artists whose work she admires. She has studied under local Annapolis artists, Lee Boynton, John Ebersberger and Bonnie Roth Anderson, learning the impressionists’ style of their teacher, Henry Hensche. She has also had intensive workshop study with Cedric and Joanette Egeli in figure and portrait. She enjoys sharing her love of art through teaching, as well. She has worked with children in St. Mary’s Elementary School’s after school enrichment program as an art instructor. She taught art with ArtStart at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, and is adjunct faculty at Anne Arundel Community College, in Maryland, as an art instructor. She also holds private and small group lessons.
Desiree is an active member of several Annapolis, Maryland area art groups which include the Annapolis Watercolor Club, the Annapolis Arts Alliance, the Maryland Federation of Art, the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. Her art has been displayed in several juried and non-juried shows, and is displayed in homes and businesses across the United States and overseas.
Her artwork has been featured on the cover of the Baltimore Symphony’s Decorators’ Show House 2006 book, as well as posters and other promotional material for the event. Her painting “Abstract Annapolis” was chosen for promotional material for ARTWORKS 2006 (a city wide arts celebration), and her commissioned painting was used for the summer, 2006 cover of “Washtrends”, a regional trade magazine. Her artwork was chosen for the City of Annapolis’ 2007 Holiday card. She was also chosen to create artwork for the celebrated Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade for 2009 poster and book. Watch for the unveiling in November!
